Vice President: Barbara Haymann-Diaz
The first program for the New Year features one of our own - quilting artist, Carol Weber. Carol trained in the Visual Arts and took her first quilting class after college, while teaching art in the public schools. Her lecture and trunk show will take us through her evolution in “art quilting” by sharing many of her award winning quilts. She will also give suggestions on making your quilts more creative and getting and using feedback from entering quilts in shows.
Following the tradition of “art quilting” the first workshop this year is conducted by Sharon Bottle Souva. Ms. Souva’s quilts are a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques. She will share her expertise with participants in her workshop titled “Textural Landscape”. Each participant will create an original simple landscape using techniques in appliqué, reverse appliqué, texture and random piecing. Techniques used to enhance pictorial quilted art.
The workshop is scheduled for March 22 at the New Hackensack Reformed Church from 9 am – 3 pm. The fee for the workshop (and all other workshops scheduled this year) is $40. The sign-up sheet can be found on the “Program Table” where you will also find a sample of Ms. Souva’s work and the supply list for the workshop.
More information about Sharon Bottle Souva and a gallery of her quilts is found on her web site at: www.sharonbottlesouva.com.

Nominating Committee – Ginny Fidler and Susan Roe
The Nominating Committee is already at work! All of our guild officers are elected for 1 year terms, with a maximum of 3 consecutive terms. This is the 3rd and final year for Jeanne Glick (President) and for Lois Stewart (Treasurer). So we know that, in the spring, we will definitely need to nominate FDQ members for these positions. Our VP and our Secretary are each serving in their 1st one-year terms in their respective positions. As the Nominating Committee we are tasked with presenting a slate of officers to be presented at the May 2012 meeting. We are beginning our search process now. If you are interested in running for any of these positions, please let us know of your interest. If you would like to suggest possible candidates for any of these positions, please directly contact one of the Nominating Committee Members (Ginny or Susan). We will take your suggestions into consideration as we prepare a slate of officers for the spring 2012 election.
We would also like to have 1-2 more members join us on the Nominating Committee. If you are interested, please contact Jeanne Glick, President (as she is the one who appoints members to the guild committees).
